SideStreet Customs Logo Design
This go round in "Pro'Sesh," I highlight the identity creation for Side-Street Customs in Nashville TN. The outfit got it's name from the owner working on cars curbside, on a side-street in front of his house. I love when there are anecdotes like that to invigorate a brand story. Add to that being in the heart of NASCAR country and a place where championship & classic car cultures are very much a part of the community fabric. So the task was; classic car culture, racing & championship elements, with a modern street-style flair. So this is how I made it RDQLUS:
1. Using the pen tool, created hand-drawn flag elements with a lot of visual motion. Checkered elements built on perspective to be applied to the flags for even more implied visual action.
2. A classic Deco-style, beveled chevron as seen in the golden age of automotive culture, but with twist—keeping only the shadowed parts and cutting away the "light" sides of the bevel.
3. Added monogram & circular typography to create a visual badge, as could be seen on an actual car.
4. Further refinement of the flags was necessary for even more motion and dimension after coupling them with the other elements.
