Apple's New iPad Pro is a Game Changer.
Sure, it's a bit unfair for me to give a tech assessment because I'm biased; I'm still that kid who geeks out on all things gadget. But in this case it goes a step further. Before acquiring my own, a colleague asked me to poke around on his Apple iPad Pro for an hour and then asked me, "so I'm curious—how will you use it?" In truth I couldn't answer him. Why?
This is a tool—the ultimate tool. I don't think I will do anything new with it, but rather I believe that it puts what I already do in a different light and context. For instance, I'm writing this post directly to my site, on my couch, in my pad, on my pad. Yeah.
Reader apps gain steam due to format, size and creative layouts that can look more like actual magazines or newspapers. Audio & video (watching, creation & streaming, altogether) becomes completely viable HD, which will cause a seismic shift in the production & consumption of media (watch out cable & satellite TV). App development for creative professionals who want illustration, photo editing or even web design capabilities will take a turn for the innovative and unique because this device is no longer just a machine of consuming information—it is a mobile production house, powerful enough to at least get your project started without being stifled until you get back to the office.
I've barely scratched the surface of this thing, but I'm excited to see how it enhances the things I already do… beginning with, how the hell do I hold this thing?!
