A fairly unassuming storefront hides no special features or trickiness inside—it's fairly unassuming inside too. "What a ride!"
I had a brief and pleasurable chat a couple weeks ago with a lovely golden lady that I see from time to time at my local Starbucks. Because time it in short supply, and sit-down space even shorter, we had a very quick, fun and extremely candid chat about living life on full-tilt because she liked my style, remarking that in the small amount she knew about me from just observation in the coffee shop she felt that was how I rolled. Wow. Forward, but again—candid and insightful. Thinking it to just be a moment in time, I let it pass, but she did not. She took the time to write me this note, carrying it around until the next time she saw me. And that's when my heart melted and a tuft of wind caught my wings, elevating my spirit.
This morning, I see her approaching out of the corner of my eye, so I turn to greet her. She didn't stay for some long drawn out recap. No. This lovely 70+ yr old woman, breezed thru in her workout gear and simply said, "after our talk, I wanted to give you this. A'ight then… Laaaater!" like some teenaged girl from the high school across the street, and dipped out without the slightest look back. Ok, for one; boss! For two; cute as all hell! And the quote?
And all I was left with was a wry smile, because this lovely little old lady at my local took a 5 minute, random conversation over coffee and completely understood about me what even my family & closest friends seem to struggle with.
